Narrators and announcers join vocalists in finding sources for demonstration CD's

Los Angeles, CA --- Competition for commercial and voiceover work has sent singers and talkers in search of professional providers of demonstration recordings. "It's absolutely essential you have a good demo, if you expect to get any work at all" said one would-be narrator after having made the rounds of the offices in Hollywood. At one L.A. demo studio, an engineer named Phil gave a few tips to those seeking an edge on making the most of their studio session to produce their demo: "Be prepared", he said. "Bring your own spots to read - copy them from a magazine or news-
paper, or copy from a television ad. "After all, that stuff is written by the best commercial writers available. Then, be prepared -- that can't be stressed enough. Come to the studio well rehearsed -- have your material memorized, if possible. You'd be amazed at how many people show up for their demo session with no idea of what they're going to do. "With so much riding on what you produce, it only makes sense that you give it your best shot. We can take care of putting in music and sound effects for you, but we can't read it for you."
